Watchdog News Changes
Some readers may have noticed that the Watchdog web site was no longer available at it's main address of www.Watchdog-News.com. This is a temporary condition due to the transition from one webmaster to another. Chris Nielsen, who has been the original webmaster is passing along his duties after some personal conflicts over some content and editorial style that emerged mid-2006.
"I've been 100% responsible for the funding and maintaining of the web site, 4 blogs, a directory, and everything else for the past 2-3 years, and since I was not happy with the current direction of the paper, I decided to be less involved.", said Nielsen.
He continued, "The Watchdog has great potential as a media to affect change in politics and attitudes, but I don't see it evolving as I think it should, and it just got to be very frustrating. I think it's time for new blood to come in and either build upon the infrastructure that I created, or tear it down and create something better.".
On December 18th, 2006 the domain was transfered to a new hosting company, but since the files for the site had not yet been transfered, there was only a "parking page" for visitors to www.Watchdog-News.com, Nielsen explained. "There's going to be a bit of a learning curve, but I expect the site to return at the main domain in the next couple of days and I am cooperating fully to see that things go as smoothly as they can. Until then, a copy of the site can been accessed at the original domain of www.Minneapolis-Watchdog.com. Once the site has been moved and is operational, I will remove most of the current content and decide what to do with the old domain, since the owner of the Watchdog has indicated they are not interested in it.".
